Multisport (Tri) Weekend Triathlon/Duathlon ResultsSun 1 Sep 2024 Fifteen club triathletes competed in multiple events this weekend. Sam Wade again won the Brighton and Hove Sprint Triathlon, with new member Simon Lilley doing well coming 10th in a large field. And there were first experiences of triathlon for Olle Akeson, and Matt Stevens also did well improving on his time in his first triathlon last year. Ella Grabsky, continues her progress in triathlon and how much she's improving, coming second in her age group. Emma Wrightman did very well in the B&H standard distance placing 10th female and 2nd in her age group. It would seem that Keir Macdonald and Travis Eyles might have been victims of the tidal issues that affected those starting in the later later waves. In the 1066 triathlons turned duathlons Liz Halliday was first female in the standard distance, Geoff Pike coming 4th overall. This was the Club Championship race and so each win the 12 points on offer! Sally Symes continued her impressive year, competing in the sprint and Paul Young disappointingly for him had what would have been his first Middle Distance turned into an adapted duathlon but completed it well in hot conditions. At Dorney Lake Erica Martin, not in her preferred duathlon, once again still finished high up the placings in the Sprint Triathlon. Well done everyone! Multisport (Tri) Multisport Championship 2023 Event 2: Mid Sussex TriathlonSun 11 Jun 2023 Event 2 in the 2023 Multisport Championship series witnessed another fabulous performance from Chelsey who won her age group and was second female. Liz was 8th and also won her age group while Kirsty was third woman and second in her age group. The race also witnessed Ella Grabsky's first triathlon supported by proud Dad on his 60th birthday, who was unable to race having picked up an injury running 60k for his birthday two days before! Eogan took Phil's place...and then went and won the M70 despite having a bike that weighed more than Liz and having just a few hours notice, not to mention very little recent training! Jack Hayward was 5th overall and, like Malcolm Hughes, who was continuing his return to racing, was second in his age group. Matthew Binns produced the fastest swim of the day and came in seconds behind Malcolm. Erica Martin also competed in the aquabike due to having a tight calf on the day and being unfit to run. But did the Club proud by winning in a time of 57:18 for the 400m swim and 25k bike event. Well done everyone who took part...next up is the virtual Aquabike or Aquathlon(10-16th July) event to be decided in the week before. Multisport (Tri) Various (inc. Multisport Championship)Sun 12 Jun 2022 Sunday 12th June saw a number of our fabulous multisport athletes competing at various events. In the Club Multsport Championship there was a very close finish in the women's race at the Mid Sussex Sprint Triathlon with Erica Martin and Nina Atherton each taking 2nd place in their age categories, Erica 4th and Nina 5th woman overall, with less than a minute separating them. Meanwhile at the Eastbourne Sprint Triathlon there was a similarly close finish between the top two men with Geoff Manns pipping Lewis Hendon-John, again by less than a minute, to the top spot in the men's championship. Tim beats both Geoff and Lewis in the Club Championship racing at faster paces. Martina Tiziani and Nick Cressey also did well as they continue their triathlon improvement. Multisport (Tri) Ringmer DuathlonSun 19 Sep 2021 On what looked like being a drizzly and damp Sunday morning for the DIY, virtual Ringmer duathlon the weather turned out ok for a small but perfectly formed multisport posse. Liz created the course based on the cancelled Ringmer event that we were hoping to do. The start was staggered so that everyone finished each leg more or less together with transitions neutralised, although more time might have been spent together had some of us not taken wrong turns here and there...but everyone raced the distances if not the courses! All that remained was to have a drink, a roast and a chat before what, for some, was a gruelling journey on probably the busiest day of the year on the roads surrounding Brighton! Many thanks to Pauline, Alex Bonzi and Dan for support and bike security! It was also good to see Alex out on his bike again after a long layoff.
