The inaugural running of the Phoenix 10K was an undoubted success. Not only did the race sell-out but initial feedback from competitors is very positive. Thirty of us ran but what was so heartening was the number of you that turned out to help.

This is the one we wanted to win and the competition, at a baking hot Christ's Hospital, was fierce. Brighton and Hove led for the early laps but the Phoenix senior men's team took fire and emerged the winners by nearly a minute.

The Sussex Masters XC Champs postponed from December, finally took place at Lancing on 22 January. Phoenix walked away from the proceedings with two team medals. Defending champions, the over 60s had to be content with silver this year.
