Charlotte Matthews competed the British Triathlon Under 20's Festival held at Nottingham on Friday 22nd August 2014, organised by British Triathlon.

Charlotte was competing in the youth event and expected to be challenged by the strength of the other competitors having raced against some in London and Nottingham earlier in the year. She finished 29th out of 35 competitors in a time of 36:32 and was pleased with her performance. A slow swim meant she missed the two strong packs on the cycle course but she did a good run to pull back some places.

On Saturday 6th September Charlotte took part in the Crowborough Triathlon (Youth), a highly competitive race as the 4 leading girls in the South East battled for a chance for a win in the last triathlon of the SE series (2 Aquathlons remaining). Charlotte finished in 2nd place in the girls race with an overall time of 00:31:21

Charlotte then competed in the Medway Aquathlon (youth) on Saturday 13th September. She was determined to try to secure a win here without having the bike discipline in the mix. A dodgy start to the swim when she forgot to put her goggles down only delayed her momentarily and she did well to not let this upset the rest of the race. She finished first girl and 2nd overall.
