Glorious Goodwood

There were medals galore as Phoenix Athletes dominated at the Sussex Cross-Country relay championships at Goodwood, Saturday 27th September with the dry conditions allowing for some fast times.

The senior men's race saw gold & bronze for the A & B teams respectively. Although close at times, as Phoenix B finished lap 1 in front, Bill White, Jon Peper, Josh Guilman & Ross Skelton took the gold with the phoenix B team of Patrick Acaye, Tobias Bremer, Kris Everett & Sean Parker-Harding finishing in bronze. Jon Peper contributed to the success by running the fastest lap time in 11:46.

The V40 men saw a further gold as Don McCellan, Austen Hunter, Andy Bone & Paul Wishart finished in 58:51. A mix up with the medals unfortunately means they wait to receive theirs!

U17 Men Ollie Johnson, Toby Lewes, Archie Davis completed the men's hat trick with a further gold medal.

Gold wasn't the only colour, with the V60 men's team of Colin Simpson, Andrew Haig & Malcolm Kemp finishing in second positioni.

Running for the V50 men, Mike Townley Malcolm Hughes Lance Bellers & Nigel Herron finished in bronze position as did the only ladies team of Erica Martin, Kate Gorman & Kathryn Harnett, running for the senior women.

It was great to see such a good Phoenix turn out with the U13 Boys & Girls & U15 Girls also being well represented. Well done to Siarise McGuiness, Eloise Nichol, Maia Hardman, Rachel Berry, Connie Jankowski, Alex Brothwell, Charlie Cloke, Joel Luscombe, Eimhin Wellings, Arthur Haines, Zach Elbourne, Dylan Cutler, James Henderson, Ned Howes, Chloe Watson, Holly Luscombe, Charlotte Matthews.
