Hove Park Races

Good club turnout for this popular WSFRL event hosted by Arena 80. Both juniors and seniors made quite an impact on the day. Some of us were running for our second claim fun run clubs, notably Southwick Strollers and Portslade Hedgehoppers.

Easter Monday race which is part of the West Sussex Fun Run League. It's over mixed terraine included rutted tracks and muddy fields so not a fast one! I've spotted the following Phoenix people, either running for us or one of our sister fun run clubs.

This opening race of the Sussex Grand Prix season and of the Sussex 10k Challenge series is flat and fast and attracts 1500+ athletes including 14 from Phoenix. Leading runner was Josh Guilmant who recorded a chip time of 30:59 to give him seventh place and a pb by 30 seconds or so. Other results (chip times shown) were as follows:

Two of our ladies travelled to Portland for these trail races
In the 10km(actually 13.5km) Anita Jones 42nd in 1:19:44
In the 1/2 marathon Ananda Mello-Costa 259th in 2:48:26

As this was also the English regionas championship it was always going to be a class field. Quite how classy is shown with the fact that Josh Guilmant ran a superb 31:61, was leading Sussex athlete but managed only 15th place. 40 Phoenix athletes competed and their results can be seen here (select '10K', 'All' and click on the club column heading to group all Phoenix results together. Firle Festival of Running Half Marathon

Hot, hilly and the most gorgeous autumn morning you could wish for. The increasingly popular Firle Running Festival hosted a Half marathon and a 10k with most (including five Phoenix athletes) opting for the former. Tom Coates was our star with a sensational run for third place in a field of 300+
