Phoenix’s U13 and U11 Teams were victorious in the first match of the Sportshall season on November 2nd at Lancing Leisure Centre.
Phoenix were a clear 13.5 points ahead of close rivals Worthing in the Overall Match Score with each team - U13 Boys, U13 Girls, U11 Boys and U11 Girls - all winning their individual groups.

Very windy although bright conditions for this very tough off road marathon. Debbie was the sole club representative and due to a glitch with timing chips was missed from the results but due to Ant Bliss being ever present with his camera team her result is confirmed in this position.

Jon Pepper breaks the marathon club record for the second time this year at the Toronto Marathon! He finished in 2:19:09, over a minute faster then his previous record of 2:20:28 set at the Brighton Marathon earlier in the year. This time will put him joint 5th in the UK rankings - so fingers crossed for a euro or commonwealth spot next year!

The Exmoor Stagger including UKA Middle Distance Trail Running Championships

Andrew Haig took on the Exmoor Stagger which is a seriously tough 15.1 trail run with 3627 ft of ascent. It starts from Minehead and goes to the highest point in Exmoor. Andrew had a great run finishing 83rd overall and 2nd in his category.

Crowborough Childrens Aquathlons

Charlotte Matthews once again finishes 1st female with a great run at the Crowborough Childrens Aquathlon. She came out of the swim down in 8th place overall but managed to pull back a whopping 2m53s out of the 2nd place female to finish 5th overall.

East Grinstead Triathlon 19th May 7th overall and 4th girl in a time of 36:35 – cycling 10 laps instead of the required 9 laps not helping!
She went on to win the girls event in Rye (3rd place overall) on 14th July on a gloriously sunny day.
On 7th September at Crowborough Triathlon she managed a 2nd place overall and first place girl.

A great result for the Phoenix team consisting of Ben Tickner (Former South of England senior cross-country champion), Jon Pepper (reigning Sussex senior cross-country champion), Robbie Fitzgibbo, Charlie Grice, Lain Leitch, and Maz Pickard. All members worked hard to finish in 1:49:17 which is possibly the highest placing ever by a Sussex team in these championships.
