Fun Run
King's Head Canter
Mon 25 Aug 2014
This popular Bank Holiday road run between two pubs, offers a free pint at the finish. I'm not saying that this was the reason but a one, two, three by Phoenix runners in exceptionally good times speaks volumes!
1st Josh Guilmant 15:23
2nd Jon Pepper 15:34
3rd Finn McNally 15:36

Sussex Grand Prix

Sun 24 Aug 2014
Sun-dappled country lanes and sufficient ups and downs to make it interesting. Only two Phoenix chaps (both in the 65-69 AG) were there to enjoy it:

164th Rik Taub 55:04

Good preparation for John Tindell as he prepares for the ITU World Tri Champs in Canada in September
He won the race with Nigel Herron picking up the veterans (50+) prize.
A storming run by Toby Lewis saw him finish just ahead of Nigel in the overall race.
Paul Wishart and Glenn Church also raced well.

A non-wetsuit swim and algae in the water did the Phoenix athletes no favours.
Liz was second in her Age Group
Nigel and Ananda struggled in the water but despite Ananda feeling ill and Nigel actually being ill on the run, they both finished

Second Home and winning the fastest woman award was Kate Gorman in 35:16
Nigel Herron was third home in 32:48 but Matt Greenall paced well to just pip Nigel for fastest man in 32:41The summarised results show actual time followed by estimated time used by the handicapper

First time this event has been run and looks to be a good addition to the calendar
A river swim(1.5k) and challenging 1 lap bike(40k) and 2 lap run (9.6k) finishing in Arundel centre
Glenn's first standard distance triathlon but it was left to Nigel to make the basic mistake - leaving T1 without his number belt and having to waste 2 + mins running all the way back from the bike mount line to retrieve it before starting the bike!
It probably cost him 3rd AG :-(41 Nigel Herron 50-54 Male Brighton Phoenix 00:30:08 00:00:48 01:17:42 00:00:28 00:37:20 02:26:28 41

Ben Tickner came back over from Luxembourg and stormed the field finishing in 30.05, 1m20s over second place! Although a great achievement it's still not under 30mins ay Ben!! Andrew Haig and Terry Avey also finished on the podium in their age categories
