Six Phoenix runners starred for Sussex in the inter-county cross country championships, with stand out performances from Ben Tickner and Almi Nerurkar, both 8th in their races. Our runners helped Sussex come away with 7th in the Senior men's race, 26th in the U15 girls and 10th in the U13 girls.

The Frosty takes place in Littlehampton, organised by the Tuff-Fitty Club, and Phoenix came back from the event celebrating a win for John Tindell in the main event (800m swim followed by a 10k run), Paul Wishart in his category (vet men) and Deb Evers in hers (senior vet women); 2nd places in their categories for Kate Gorman (senior women), Hildi Mitchell (vet women) and Malcolm Hughes (Snr vet men) as well as a win by a margin of 8 minutes for the team made up of John, Kate, Malcolm and Alex Bonzi (8th overall and 5th in the SM category). Let's just say that the "Phoenix Honey Badgers" swam/ran away with it.

At the England Athletics indoor age-grade track and field championship, Phoenix Athlete Toby Harries won his U17 200 metre race in style, in a UK record time of 21.46. Spencer Thomas won the U20 800m while Robbie Fitzgibbon (U20 1500m) and Archie Davis (U17 800m) both picked up silvers.

Phoenix were in action on the national stage, with 8 running in the Senior Men's race of the National Cross Country Championships, a 12km course contested by over 2000 runners. Southern Champion Ben Tickner led the team home coming 5th overall in the race. The lads also came a very good 9th position out of 145 in the team event.
