Bournemouth Marathon
Sun 6 Oct 2013
Congratulations to Michelle Cartwright finishing 10th in her category at the Bournemouth Marathon! She has been struggeling with an ankle problem for a while and didn't manage to get in all the training she wanted to, so it's a great result for her! Elana Moore and Matt Plass also ran both suffering from a colds but that was not going to stop them running to celebrate Elana's 40th birthday! Unfortuatnely I do not have a link to the results as they finished outside the 10 top in their categories.

Goodwood Cross Country Relays
Sat 28 Sep 2013
Phoenix had a very successful time at the 12th Annual Goodwood Cross Counrty Relays with the V40 A team taking the Gold medal. The U15, U17, V50, V60 mens A teams all tuck Silver, and Senior Mens A and Girls U13 teams took Bronze.
Phoenix members Max Pickard, Bob Novis, and Almi Nerukar ran the fastest overall times in their respective categories and Naomi Fonteyn also ran third fastest. A huge congratulations is also due to Archie Davis who now has the course record which was previously held by Charlie Grice (09:12). His record has stood since 2008. The official results show that Phoenix U13 Girls team finished 3rd but they were in fact 2nd over the finish line!

They say you're never too old but now we can say you're never too young! Phoenix member Charlotte Matthews competed in what is believed to be the world’s largest ever Children’s Triathlon at Hever Castle on Saturday 28th. Charlotte came off the bike 4th female but she did what she does best and stormed the run to finish 1st, 1m30s ahead of 2nd!
I understand that there were two other boys from Phoenix who raced but unfortunately club names are not mentioned the events results page. If you know who they were please email brightonphoenixmedia@gmail.com and their results will be added.

Southern England Road Relays
Sun 22 Sep 2013
Last weekend the senior men were a very credible 17th at the Southern Road Relays with fantastic bookend runs from new AG World Triathlon Champion Sam Wade with 18.43 and Marathon Man Jon Pepper 18.16 (13th quickest overall). Just off their summer break track athletes Charlie Grice and Dan Stepney gave real team performances, with James Miles and Jake stepping up to the plate last minute to make sure the team qualified very well.
Also a solid performance by the U17’s grab a notable 7th place. Consistent runs by Jake Alger, Sam Kitchen and Archie Davis, who was drafted in from the U15’s to replace Billy White, set up our recent U17 National 800m Champion Spencer Thomas in a good position for the anchor leg to ensure 7th place. A big well done to the team!
