    Centurion South Downs Way 50

    Start in Worthing, trot up to join the South Downs Way at Chanctonbury Ring, then just a mere 44 more miles til you get to Eastbourne.  Well done to the Phoenix athletes who competed in our local ultra race.

    Cross-Country Inter-Counties Championships

    Six Phoenix runners starred for Sussex in the inter-county cross country championships, with stand out performances from Ben Tickner and Almi Nerurkar, both 8th in their races.  Our runners helped Sussex come away with 7th in the Senior men's race, 26th in the U15 girls and 10th in the U13 girls.

    National Cross Country Championships

    Phoenix were in action on the national stage, with 8 running in the Senior Men's race of the National Cross Country Championships, a 12km course contested by over 2000 runners.  Southern Champion Ben Tickner led the team home coming 5th overall in the race.  The lads also came a very good 9th position out of 145 in the team event.

  • Cross Country

    Lancing: Sussex XC League Race 4

    Sat 14 Feb 2015

    The final race of the Cross Country League race was moved from Bexhill to Lancing, but this didn't stop Phoenix turning up and picking up a few medals in both individual and team events to round off the season. Highlights include top spot finishes in the League for Almi Nerurkar (U15 Girls) and Paul Whelpton (v60 men), both of whom won all three of the races they contested; Charlotte Matthews joining Almi on the U15 Girls podium coming third overall; and Ollie Johnson's second place overall in the U17 Men contest. Thanks to a strong performance in the last race, the veteran men ended up third in the League.  A full round up of individual results over the 4 races will be posted once available.

    SEAA Cross Country Championships

    Sat 24 Jan 2015

    Stanmer Park hosted this major championship event and Phoenix runners did not disappoint - including a superb 6th in the U15s for Almi Nerurkar and an entertaining duel between stars Ben Tickner and Jon Pepper. Ben ended up winning the event for the second time, with Jon taking Bronze.  Congratulations oon the Senior men and U13 Boys teams which both came 10th in the team event.

    There was also a big effort from Brighton Phoenix marshalls, led by Bruce Warren who spent the whole day supporting the event.
