Jack & Jill 5M Challenge
Sun 25 Jul 2010
Six Phoenix athletes tackled this gruelling event (two impossible climbs and two death-defying descents in 5+ miles) having wisely decided to ignore the 30 mile version running in parallel. Interestingly, four of us were in the 60+ category including Rik Taub running his first race in Phoenix colours. Welcome Rik.

Seaford Half Marathon
Sun 6 Jun 2010
Tough course this one, mostly off road. Unhelpfully the results don't list club membership but I think I've spotted everyone. Again, the Hards family are to the fore. They seem to like the tough ones! Particular congratulations to Darryl who won by a good minute and a half.

Sat 22 May 2010
More and more Phoenix people seem to be taking an interest in fell or trail running. Brian Friend tackled the White Peak marathon in Derbyshire (a trail race) on a sizzling hot day and fared pretty well against all those tough Northerners. Brian finished in 25th place in a time of 3:47:55 (second M50)

English Schools Cross Country Champs
Sun 21 Mar 2010
The English Schools XC Champs took place at a wet and muddy Heaton Park in Manchester. Phoenix once again had athletes running for Sussex. Robbie Fitzgibbon (junior boys) and Beth Kidger (intermediate girls) both came in the first third of the field with solid runs. In the senior boys Finn McNally had to retire with back problems when he was well placed. Sam Wade came through in that event with his best run of the season. In the intermediate boys, Will Durkin had a great race, placing well within the top 100 in his first year in the age group. Run of the day came from Charlie Grice, who came an excellent 9th in the intermediate race, making him first reserve for the England team for the Home Countries International.
