Wensleydale Wander
Sat 12 Apr 2014
Liz Haliday completed the Wensleydale Wander, a 22 mile event for walkers and runners. She completed it at a steady pace of 3:54:59, managing to talk with a friend most of the way.
It’s a lovely route taking in parts of Wensleydale and Coverdale (N.Yorkshire) with some hills, a few race horses for company around the Middleham gallops, and an awful lot of styles and gates. For anyone interested in taking part next year, you get a cup of tea and sausage sandwich at about 15 miles!
It was a great event to prepare for a 50km trail race she intends to complete in May

Dark Star River Marathon
Sun 26 Jan 2014
There are people who love this sort of thing. There are people in Phoenix who love this sort of thing! It was wet, it was off-road and it was muddy. Not only that it was over distance – 28.2 miles. Essentially an out and back along the river Adur, the route takes a detour to the epomymous Dark Star Brewery at the turn around but I don't think a compensatory pint was on offer. The race was restricted to 60 entrants and our gallant team all made it into the top half.
The race was won in 3:46:38. Tom Farsides ran 4:10:24 for an impressive third. Andy Pumphry ran 5:18:17 for 24th and Brian Friend 5:24:05 for 29th.
Well done guys
