England Athletics talented athlete programme

Friday 16th December 2022

5 Phoenix athletes have been selected to participate in the various England Athletics talent programmes

For the Junior programme, English Schools 800m champion, Miles Waterworth made his way through the selection processes to be given a place on this prestigious programme. Many congratulations to Miles and his coach Bruce Warren.

This is what England Athletics say about it.

"The Youth Talent Programme (YTP) is the first step on the Talent pathway designed to meet the needs of identified, talented English athletes aged between 16 and 18 years of age and their coaches. The programme focuses on developing a dual career for the athlete through fulfilling their potential within the sport and also in their education and employability."

Almi Nerurkar and Alice Wright are both selected for the Junior talent programme following their excellent summer seasons. Joel Kidger and Jon Bigg/Dan Stepney are their coaches.

In the Senior talent programme, no one will be surprised to see Charlie Da'Vall-Grice and George Mills on there because of their brilliant senior careers so far.

This is how England Athletics says they will all benefit.

"The England Senior Programme aims to support senior English athletes who have the realistic potential to compete for Team England at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Australia in 2026, progress to the British Athletics World Class Programme and gain selection for senior Great Britain and Northern Ireland Teams in the coming years."
