Lockdown no barrier to hard work for formidable four

Friday 16th April 2021

We all know that it has been a tough year, with many challenges put in front of us. Winter training in dark, windy and raining conditions, with no certainty of a race on the horizon, made the most difficult time of year even more testing.

But so many of our Phoenix athletes have shown incredible determination to keep going and set new goals.

On behalf of their parents, the club recognised this week the efforts of Sofia Akilade, Jahnvi Choksi, Mathew Noakes and Raphael Reed, who have all continued their training, at least three times a week, without missing a session.

Chair Mike Townley presented the four young athletes with special trophies, arranged by their parents.

All those involved have made a point of thanking all of the coaches who have advised and kept an eye on their athletes throughout trying circumstances, all within coronavirus rules, during this strange period.

We all continue to be inspired by each other’s efforts.
