Good in the wood
Saturday 13th October saw the start of Cross Country season. Held at Goodwood, the CRoss Country Relays saw a record number entrants this year as18 Sussex Clubs entered some 200 teams - that's over 700 runners aged 11 to 70!
Sadly, Phoenix only had 2 teams medal: The U17 women's team of Mia Edwards, Maia Hardman and Milly Dickinson brought home the gold winning in 48:26, 2 seconds ahead of Brighton & Hove. The V50 men (Steve Atkinson, Andy Bone, Steve Shelby, Paul Wishart) finished in 2nd in their race to win silver.
Just missing out on medals: 4th place V40 men (Karn Sandilands, Tom Rick wood, Joe Butler, Alex Bonzi) and V35 4th (Kathryn Harnett, Gill Checkley, Charlotte Softley) and 5th for senior women (Jessica Prior, Bobby Searle, Connie Jankowski).
