Phoenix Champs
30 June & 1st July saw some of Phoenix's top athletes compete in the British Athletics Championships at the Alexander stadium, Birmingham.
700 athletes from the Country competed to become British Champion. Places on the British team at the European Athletics Championships in August and the Athletics World Cup in July.
Phoenix was proud to be represented by an array of athletes:
Charlie Grice, now no stranger to competing at National and International level, competed in the 1500m with Archie Davis, Max Packard and Robbie Fitzgibbon who are also making names for themselves. Charlie finished 2nd in heat 1 in 3:42:15 and 4th in the final in 3:46:99. Archie and Max finished 4th & 9th in heat 2 to miss out on the final. Robbie qualified by finishing 4th in heat 3 in 3:44:74 and 9th in the final 3:49:24.
The 1500m women's race saw Beth Kidger step up. She ran 4:17:76 to finish 7th in heat 2. This qualified her for the final where she ran a 4:22:92, 12th position.
Spencer Thomas & Finley Bigg competed in the 800m men's race; Spencer saw a time of 1:50:36 finishing 2nd in heat 2, Finley finished 4th in heat 4 in 1:49:89, qualifying him for the final where he came 8th in 1:52:49.
