Legs 11 at the Blackcap Handicap!

Thursday 9th June saw Phoenix runners meet at Ditchling Beacon to run to Blackcap and back. Runners give their predicted 10k times and are then set off at different times with the aim of finishing roughly together.

Despite the fact most runners began by saying they wanted to take it easy, they ended up running hard, spurred on to try and catch the runners in front whilst trying not to be overtaken by those chasing.

On what was a glorious evening, here's to Hildi Mitchell for keeping the pack at bay and finishing first, to Caz Garrat, the fastest Phoenix female, and Paul Weir fastest male. As this is a Club event trophies are awarded to paid up members at the Club's award night.

We were glad to welcome two non-members who whilst non-scoring ran well and joined in the fun.

Thanks also to Liz for using her savant time prediction skills to organise the race, Sue and Kathryn for time keeping, Hildi for the spread sheet, Malcolm for manning the trig point & taking photos, Jose for photos, Alex for coming out ‘top dog' in a dog attack (he barked back and sent the dog away yelping, tail between its legs!) and Nigel - legs 11!
