Erica takes on Europe!
26th April saw our very own Erica Martin take on the the 2015 European Duathlon, held in Alcobendas, Spain. Here is her account of the race....
"When I found out the race was in Spain my first thought was that it would be warm and sunny. Sadly this wasn't the case and it was raining heavily on the morning of the race. Luckily this stopped just as the race began.
The first 5km run was undulating but a good route and I felt strong. The bike route was also very undulating, with a lot of long, gradual climbs and fast descents. There were a lot of roundabouts which were slightly hairy at times due to the amount of water on the roads.
The final run took place on the same course as the first but was only one lap of 2.5km this time so was over with very quickly.
I was very pleased with how the race went and although would have liked to have in a higher position overall I was 2nd from GB which should hopefully qualify me for next year's race."
