Monday 21st November 2011
Fantastic Week of racing for Phoenix athlete’s, top of the pile was a superb Bronze medal for Sam Wade in the British University Duathlon Championship (BUCS). Sam has made a big improvement in his distance running of late and combined with a strong bike was able to put it all together to put himself on the podium.
Ian Leitch returned to the mud and grass of cross country after an absence of 20 years to place 5th in the London Championships, with more success sure to come when he gets back to full fitness.
Max Pickard has run the Brighton Park Run 5k over 15 times never with a win, this Saturday he showed he has moved up in class to win in a time of 15.38 to move to 11th on the all time list, still an under 20.
Brighton 10k Sussex Championships
Almost perfect conditions, although the breeze from the east made the last few kilometres a challenge. Good turnout from Phoenix. This was also the Sussex 10K championships. As far as I can see our County medal winners are Terry Avey with silver in the over 60 category and Bob Novis with bronze in the over 50s.
