Phoenix Parkrun Round-Up (12th November 2022)

Monday 14th November 2022

Welcome to this week's Phoenix Parkrun Round-Up in which we take a look at the achievements of club members at parkrun from the weekend. From PBs to milestones to parkrun tourism, this is a chance to celebrate both personal achievement and the joy of running!

If your achievement isn't listed below then that likely means you don't have Brighton Phoenix listed as your club on parkrun! We use the parkrun website, the Club Strava page and www.thepowerof10.info to search out performances and stories. If you have an achievement you want to shout about then reach out to Billy Gates on WhatsApp.

We're particularly interested in receiving photos of Phoenix runners at parkruns to include in these articles too - PB or not!

Personal Bests

Congratulations to 8 members on achieving a parkrun PB!

  • Mel English: 19:33 (Hove Promenade)
  • Billy Gates: 21:54 (Worthing)
  • Freya Hughes: 19:32 (Hove Promenade)
  • Tom Mackman: 17:19 (Cannon Hill) taking 3rd overall in the process
  • Kate Natkiel: 17:54 (Worthing) taking 1st female in the process
  • Ed Plager: 16:39 (Hove Promenade)
  • Thomas Sorrell: 23:24 (Brighton & Hove)
  • Tom Wheatley: 18:27 (Preston Park)

Tom Wheatley reflects on his PB: "I've been chipping away at my Preston Park Parkrun time for the past few months with the aim to get it under 18 mins. I love the course and actually find the little hill and the long, enjoyable decline make it one of the more interesting parkruns out there - although slightly more challenging than many. It's always nice to see loads of Phoenix people there as well. Knocking almost 10 seconds off my time means that I'm almost there, but it's getting harder to claw away at it."

Notable Mentions

Lots of 1st place finishes from club members this week, well done all!

  • Patrick Acaye took 1st overall at Brighton & Hove (18:06)

  • Adrian Haines took 1st overall at Ifield Mill Pond (19:11) also running the best age graded performance on the course at 80.1%

  • Nigel Herron ran the best age graded performance at Brighton & Hove at 80.65% (19:33)
