Phoenix athletes at the Boston Marathon

Jon Clays, Paul Wishart, Sam Garrity and Garry White flew to Boston USA to run in the classic race from Hopkinton to Boston and enjoyed decent weather enabling good times. Jon ran a sparkling 2:35 to place 19th in the 40-44 age group and Paul 2:56 for 70th in the 50-54, no small feat in a field of 27,000.

On a predominantly downhill course, notorious for shredding the quad muscles by half-way, all 4 negotiated the notorious Newton Hills from 18 to 21 miles without affecting their 2nd half split too negatively. Plenty to celebrate in the Boston hostelries.
