Preview of this weekends action - 26/27 Feb

A packed weekend for Phoenix athletes, with at least 3 top class events on the calendar.

First, on Saturday morning, we have Katherine Haslip and Owen Wallek running in the National Cross country championships at what looks to be an extremely muddy and hilly course at Parliament Hill fields in London. Both achieved top 3 places in the South of England Championships and 1st place overall medals in the Sussex League, so best of luck to them in the premier cross country event of the English winter.

Then on Saturday and Sunday we have a strong squad of middle distance athletes at the UK Athletics National Indoor Championships ;

Beth Kidger and Almi Nerurkar in the 3000m final on Sunday

Archie Davis and Luca Bigg in the 800m 

Charlie Da'Vall Grice and George Mills in the 1500metres

Qualifying heats on Saturday and hopefully the finals on Sunday for all 4.

Third up, it is the annual ( although Covid interrupted recently ) Brighton Half marathon which many of the clubs' distance runners have been targeting as one of their peak winter races. So expect a phalanx of Phoenix racers sporting the classic white & blue racing vests ( maybe a few wearing the dark blue alternative :-) ) throughout the field, as there are entries from old & young, fast and not so fast.
