PHX Women England 10k Champions!

Friday 19th April 2019

In the past, our women’s performances have sometimes been kept out of the limelight by our large number of outstanding male runners.  But the wonderful recent run of top-class displays by our women continued at the Brighton Marathon 10k, which this year was selected as the England Road 10km Championships.  A club-record run from Beth Kidger plus great performances from Tara Bage and Cat Bounds gained us the Team Title, beating off strong challenges from Hastings AC and Highgate Harriers.

This follows on from Rachel Gorman’s record-breaking 1:22 in the Brighton Half, Bobby Searle’s  3:01 debut marathon in Paris, and our women’s repeat victory at the Sussex Road Relays. It is also very encouraging to see lots of new women runners joining the club, and increased participation from women runners of all standards, as shown in our impressive female turnout at the Hastings Half Marathon.
