Hughes' news

Malcolm Hughes competes for the British Triathlon Federation and Triathlon England Championships. This is his account on competing for the GB team.

"I often choose to do the British Triathlon Federation (BTF), standard distance, age group championship race and also the Triathlon England age group championships as well. Other races I choose are often qualification races for the British age group team. To qualify for the British team you need to finish in the top 3 or 4 places in your age group depending on how many qualification races there are.
This year I entered the Leeds triathlon which is the first qualification race for the world championships on the Gold Coast in Australia in September 2018. I managed to come second in my age group and as this was also the BTF championships I got a silver medal and also a qualification place for Australia.
Ripon triathlon was the English championship where I got a bronze medal in my age group and as it was a qualification price for the world championships in Rotterdam this September I got a place on the team for that also.
It is quite a lot of traveling around the UK but I really enjoy competing for the GB team when I get a chance."
