Weakest Link and drink!

Despite the stormy conditions, there was a good turn-out for the Weakest link races and proceeding weakest drink social on Wednesday 22nd June.

Congratulations to the Phoenix women of Cristina Lawrence; Georgia Flowers; Erica Martin; Kate Gorman, for a 3rd consecutive win in this race - maybe assisted to run faster by the fork lightening?!

The men also took a win - thanks Donald for this account;

Our team comprised of Tobias Bremer, Matt Greenall, James Rae and me (Donald Maclellan in that run order. After 2 legs we were in a decent overall lead over 2nd team Brighton tri thanks to good running from Tobias and Matt. The lead was maintained by James and Donald and on the final leg and it appeared we were "home and dry" However Brighton tri had different ideas and they made a real effort to close the gap early over the 5th leg and so were almost on our tail as we turned East back onto the seafront. It was not apparent this was the case ( at least not me) but by the time we reached the zig zag ramp at the marina they were snapping at our heels like a pack of wolves! The race was truly on however the team motto of "we are Steve Ovett" meant there would only be one winner and as we took the 2nd last bend we stretched away from the "wolves" and all crossed the line with a comfortable margin. By this point the heavens had opened but then it came down in biblical proportions drenching us all. It cleared in time for us to gratefully accept our winning jog shop vouchers from Sam and his team before retreating to the pub for a celebratory drink!

Social Secretary, Zeina Clare adds ‘it was a good turn out for both the race and the social afterwards. Lots of drying off under hand driers in the toilets and people wandering around barefoot whilst draining shoes!!'
