Phoenix flying at the Open

Thursday 12 May saw Withdean track come alive for the Phoenix/BMC Open. The almost perfect conditions allowed for 89 (known) pbs from the 154 athletes.

Phoenix was out in force.....
Of note are Ella Kaps, Mekdes Berry & Carla Abbot for their 2,3,4 in the U11 girls 800m and William Muzio for finishing first in the boys race.
Emily Muzio finished first in the U13 girls 800m whilst Lukas Nerurkar was first in the boys race with Marley Bigg & Joe Checkley 3rd & 4th.

Further success was seen in the mixed BMC races with Fenton Bingham (U17) and Spencer Thomas (U20) finishing first in their races.

The Long Jump events were also well represented. Well done to Renee Bassin (U13 girl), Alex Dyball and Francesca White (U15 boys/girls) for their golds.

A huge thanks must also be given to the army of officials and Phoenix volunteers for helping make the evening the success it was - thank you!
