Naomi sprints to gold

Over the weekend of the 20th and 21st February 10 young Phoenix athletes went to the Sussex indoor champs at the David Weir Centre with some great results.

A special well done goes to Naomi Owolabi who won the gold in the u15 60 m sprint in a PB of 8.09. Naomi, who achieved the English Schools' entry standard last weekend at Lee Valley with a throw of 10.89, is also competing in the Shot Put at Sutton* - nice work!!

*Naomi took gold in the shot with a county indoor record of 11.48 – another step towards English Schools. Go Naomi!

We had some fantastic performances in the U13 long jump; well done to Beatrix Dalley who just missed out on a medal coming 4th with a jump of 4.30m. Also of note is Renee Bassin, who finished a brilliant 6th with a PB of 3.35, and Amelie Novy (9th) with a PB jump of 3.16. Renee and Amelie have not jumped in a competition before. In the u15 Long jump Ella Hodge jumped 4.16m a new personal best.
