Power of Phoenix

Well done to all who took part and helped out in the Phoenix / BMC track meeting on Wednesday 13th May. Part of the aim of this meeting is to raise the standards of meetings in Sussex and the South...so how did we do?

Paul Collicutt has scanned the Power of Ten and picked up these marks and new UK rankings , all made at our meeting on weds.

800m U20
1st Spencer Thomas
6th Robbie Fitzgibbon
14th Finley Bigg
21st Dan Eeles

800m U17
2nd Archie Davis
35th Ollie Johnson

800m U15 Girls
19th Maia Hardman

1500m U15 Girls
5th Almi Nerurkar

2000m Steeplechase U20
6th Billy White

There were good races across the board with plenty of gold medals & Pbs:
Beatrix Dalley (U11 800m); Eloise Nichol (U13 800m); Marina Reid-Martin (100m); Louisa Saunders, Finn Anderson, Oliver Johnson, and Spencer Thomas (800m races); Max Pickard (1500m A race); Billy White (2000m Steeplechase); Cassie Brewer Wren, Francesca White, William Saunders, Marina Reid-Martin (long jump).

Hero of the night, however, was 13-year-old Zach Elbourne (pictured). Excited and nervous to be running his first 1500m race, having just moved up to the U15 age group, he was knocked and took a bad tumble after 100 metres.
Down on the floor for a good while and with his worried dad John running over to him, Zach showed what a sportsman he is and got up and finished the race with his injured shoulder and grazed arms and knees. What spirit and determination and for everyone cheering him on, he made Phoenix very proud. Well done Zach.

Thank you Paul Collicutt & Jacqui Swift for your reports.
