Paul Bids Farewell as Chairman
Tuesday 10th March 2015
It has truly been one of the greatest honours of my life to have been Chairman of our great club Brighton Phoenix for the past eleven years.
During that time I think everyone at the club has worked very hard to make it a better club for all our members. The performance levels have improved across the board and this is due to tireless dedicated work by coaches, team managers and parents not to mention the commitment from our athletes themselves over all our disciplines. When I became Chairman I honestly believed we could raise our game but I never expected all the World Multisports Champions we got, nor did I expect Phoenix athletes to break two UK indoor records (one at a sprint event to boot) and win three National titles in the same season as we achieved our highest ever team and individual placings in the National Cross Country Championships and the same season as we won our first ever sportshall league! I did expect us to have our eyes on the Olympics because we are Brighton Phoenix and we are an EXTRAORDINARY CLUB.
I would like to thank all the Board Members, Coaches, Team Managers, Parents, Newsletter and Website Teams and Volunteers who have worked with me over the last eleven years. The Club AGM is this Wednesday at Withdean Stadium at 7.30pm. I hope to see as many of you as can attend. I am proposing Mike Townley as the next Chairman. I know he will bring his expertise with the International Paralympic Committee to the position of Chairman and I cannot be happier that he has agreed to stand. I love this club and I just know that Mike is precisely the right man to be the new Chairman.
Best Wishes to One and All
Paul Collicutt
Chairman (until Wednesday evening) of the Awesome Brighton Phoenix
