Paul Lawrence achieves new PB at Maidenhead Half Marathon

Thursday 19th September 2013

This was a well-organised race, with about 2000 runners. It is pretty much flat, and has good PB potential. There is plenty of free parking right by the start and it took me about 75 mins to drive there from Brighton. The first mile, through the town centre, is a bit twisty and at one point near the start everyone has to go under a pedestrian underpass, so make sure you're near the front at that point. The route is then two laps along the river/through countryside - I guess quite pretty if you've time to notice. The race seemed to attract a lot of good London-based runners, especially in the V40 category, so there were always people to run against. Overall, a good alternative half to Barns Green or Chichester for those looking to race one in late summer/early autumn.
