Beth training and racing in USA

Sunday 3rd April 2022

Beth Kidger flew out to USA last week, en route to Flagstaff, Arizona for several weeks training and racing.

She kicked off her trip with 3rd place in the Stanford International 10,000m against US college athletes. Beth had hoped she might get a fast race and be pulled round to a 32.20 Commonwealth Games qualifier, but after the pacemakers pulled out, no other athletes were interested in going for a time or sharing the pace, so those hopes disappeared and Beth came home 3rd in 33.01.

But taking the positives, Coach Joel Kidger said "The confident way she took out the pace after half-way should get her into the Payton Jordan 5,000m, which she hopes to do after 3.5 weeks training at altitude in Flagstaff. There will be a stacked field there and plenty of people looking to push the pace, so it will be a good chance to achieve something good"
