Now in its 27th year, the Brighton Half Marathon saw some good performances by Phoenix athletes, taking advantage of the local race despite the stormy conditions.
Organised by the Sussex Beacon charity the race incorporates youth races and the main half marathon event.
Phoenix saw a host of podium finishes in the youth races with gold for Clara Muzio (11-12 years) and Holly Luscombe (15-17 years), silver for Mathew Noakes (7-10 years), Emily Muzio (11-12 years), Alice Wright (13-14 years) and Saoirse McGuinness (15-17 years) and bronze for Joe Checkly (11-12 years).
A total of 9,000 runners took part in the half, 19 of them representing Phoenix with 6 finishing in the top 100 (take a bow Alex Cruttenden, Donald Magellan, Jonny McCormack, Joe Butler, Mark Cossey, Matt Greenall). Well done also to Kate Gorman (19th senior woman) & Jill Checkley (27th F40).
