Marathon weekends

With 2 of the biggest marathon weekends completed, Phoenix says a huge well done to those who took part.

The Brighton Marathon, held April 16th and 10km, saw over 10,000 finishers with some 2,500 running the 10km. It is now in Europe's top 12 largest marathons. The Mini Mile races cover a distance of (yes, you've guessed it) 1mile. Held the day before the marathon, they are for 7-17 year olds and see over 2000 young people take part.

The iconic London marathon, now in its 35th year, is one of World Marathon Majors. It has nearly 40,000 runners.

Not only taking part but achieving new times in these events is huge news! Well done then to Darryl Hards, Jose Luceron Munoz, Alex Cruttenden, Tom Sanderson, James Rae, Matt Greenall, Richard Thompson and Gill Checkley for their pbs in London and to Paul Lawrence, Paul Whelpton, Jim Whitelegg, Tom Holborn, Glenn Church, Phil Grabsky and Dan Harris for pbs in Brighton.

10k pbs were seen for Ross Skelton (who finished 5th overall), Max Pickard and Steve Selby whilst in the Mini Miles Maia Hardman and Almi Nerurkar took 1st and 2nd in the girls under 18 race and Milly Dickinson finished 2nd in the Girls 11/12 race.
