Phoenix on the World stage
The IAAF World Athletics Championships are underway and we have a man in the 1500m and a man on the coaching team....you know who you are Charlie Grice and Jon Bigg!
We have only ever had two athletes in the World Champs...one first claim in the form of Steve Ovett and one second claim in the form of Sally Gunnell. Sally achieved what I consider to be the absolute in our sport...to win an Olympic or World Championship with a World Record mark....winning the 400m hurdles final in a world record ( the year after winning the Olympics )...hats off Sal!

1983 4th 1500m final
1987 10th 5000m final
Sally Gunnell
1991 Silver 400m hurdles final
1993 Gold and World Record 400m hurdles final
1993 Bronze 4 x 400m final
Charlie's World Championship is underway with him qualifying in heat 1 with a time of 3:43.21.
He then ran a storming 3:35.58 in the semi final to qualify for the final on 30th August, the only British athlete to qualify.
