Fun in the Country

Wednesday 18th February 2015

Saturday 14th February saw the final race in the Cross Country League.

Held at Lancing, as the Bexhill course hadn't recovered from the last onslaught, individual medals were decided on the steep & slippery course.

Ollie Johnson (U17 men, pictured below) won silver medal in the overall league standing with a 2nd at Lancing and Plumpton and 3rd at the first visit to Lancing.

The U15 girls showed the rest how it's done with 2 medals in the overall league standing: Charlotte Mathews took the bronze showing she is as talented at the cross country as she is triathlon. Almi Nerurkar (U15 girls) topped off a sensational cross country season finishing 1st. Almi has finished 1st in all 3 races giving her a gold medal in the overall league standing...she really couldn't have done more!

Not to be outdone, Lucas Nerurkar finished first in the U11 boys race and the U13 boys took silver in the league.

The women had another complete team running with Erica Martin finishing a respectable 9th. Good to see Lizzy Miles back and in very good form despite a few months off with an injury. Mixed results for the ladies in the league standing, owing to age groups being mixed to complete teams during the season but we're definitely top of division 2 for the Seniors!

As for the Men's teams...... Paul Whelpton (V60) completed a hat trick finishing 1st in the all 3 races. The Vet Men's team finished 3rd in the overall standings, with the Senior A & B Teams 4th in the first & second divisions.

It's also been brought to our attention that the Vet Men (v40, v50, v60 and overall O40) have medals in every county cross country event this season (relays, championships and league)....way to go guys!
