We're going home!

As you are probably aware, the track at Withdean Stadium has been re-laid this summer following a joint grant from Brighton Council and Sports England.

To celebrate the opening of the new track the council are having a day of events on Saturday 26th October.

Please come along...invite family, invite friends.... to say a HUGE thank you to the Council and Sports England and to support Phoenix in showing how important sport is to the local area.

Withdean Sports Complex Community Track Open Celebration

Event timings:

12:30 gates open for people to arrive
VIP arrival and guided to Stadium changing block Lounge for refreshments

1pm official welcoming to event by PA announcer
Opening speeches from: Councillor Bowden BHCC
Denise Cobb Mayor of Brighton and Hove
Sally Gunnell MBE

1:10pm Handing over of the Cheque Photo op and Speeches by Sports England Rep

1:15pm Official ribbon cutting (Sally Gunnell MBE) on 100m Finish line

1:20pm Mascot race 100m start / finish - photo ops

1:30pm Family Toddler races 1 lap of the track all comers welcome (buggies, wheelchairs,Young children (400m).

2:00pm 8-13 Youth Race 1 lap of the track (400m) - start finish line

2:30pm 14+ 1 Mile event (4 laps of track) Post the new unofficial fastest 1 mile of the track

2:45pm race 2
3:00pm race 3

3:30pm Event close

Plus: Field throwing - coached howler throw (javelin) - 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Long Jump & triple jump coaching - 1:30 - 3pm

Squash taster sessions with Nick Davies Courts 7/8 1:30- 3:00pm

Myride family Classes 12:45 - 13:15 (virtual) staff assisted
13:30 - 14:00 (live instructed)
14:15 - 14:45 (virtual) staff assisted
15:00 - 15:30 (virtual) staff assisted

Hard hat tour of First floor gym area (no equipment installed) TBC today from westridge but currently no major obstacles to this happening. 12-4pm
