Club Record For Sophie

Wednesday 27th May 2009

At the Sussex Track and Field Championships in May Sophie Coleman broke Bridgit Smyth's U20 Club and Sussex record for 3000m when she won the County Champs in 9.27.9. This time is a qualifying time for this years European Junior Championships and currently ranks her 3rd U20 in the UK. More interestingly it puts her 50th on the UK U20 all time lists.

Bridgit's time of 9:28.9 remains the Club U17 record and good enough to rank her 9th on the UK U17 all time lists. When she set the time on the old Crawley track back in 1984 it put her no 1 in the world for her age that year. She is still the UK U17 record holder at 1500m with 4:15.20 set in Norway in 1984. Amongst her English Schools and National age group titles on and off the track Bridgit was the youngest ever woman to win a UK senior title over 1500m.
