"All Time" best at Anniversary Games

Sunday 28th July 2013

Charlie Grice (Phoenix) and Lee Emanuel (Hastings) battled it out again in the 61st running of the Emsley Carr Mile at the Anniversary Games, held at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday 27 July.

In a truly competitive international battle, where the first 16 runners all cracked the four-minute barrier, the two Sussex runners were again virtually neck and neck down the finishing strait. In front of a capacity crowd Charlie dug deep, finishing 13th in 3:54.61 to Lee's 14th (3:54.73), improving his PB by a massive three seconds!

Charlie and Lee are now elevated to fourth and fifth places on the Sussex "All Time" list behind Steve Ovett, Mark Rowland, and Tim Hutchings.

This is such a superb result for the Phoenix man, who raised his game to show his talent on an international stage.
