Phoenix on fire!

This last week was always going to be significant for our club with 19 years old Charlie Grice representing Great Britain in the European Team Championships in Gateshead..... but his performance wasn't the only highlight.

First of all, hats off to Charlie for a stunning run to come 2nd in a field rammed full of seasoned European Stars. The youngest in the field, he showed great maturity, intelligence and courage.

Earlier in the week Almi Nerurkar ran 4:51 for 1500m in an English Schools Cup Match in Croydon. This time places her on top of the UK under 13 rankings so far this year.

In Eltham, Archie Davis broke 2mins for 800m and the Sussex County Under 15 record....so faster than Grice and faster than Ovett at that age...not bad Mr.Davies!

Also at Eltham, Robbie Fitzgibbon ran a brave 1500m race to set a new PB of 3:52 and just oh so narrowly missed out on a World Youth Games qualifying time. At the weekend he bounced back with a bronze in the 1500m at the Southern U20 Champs in Watford, in his first year in this age group.

At these same champs, in the seniors, Dan Stepney won a silver in the 800m and Team Captain Josh Guilmant ( The Mighty Gu! ) outsprinted the opposition to take the Southern 5kms Championship to add to his Sussex Title.

The Phoenix is on fire and we've only just started this season so buckle up and be prepared for more great results this year!
