Sunny Brighton 10k

Tuesday 20th November 2012

Great turnout for the club and some fine performances in near perfect racing conditions.

Many of the Phoenix team ran PB’s with Donald McClellan of note taking well over a minute of his previous best for the distance. We are still weighting on the Sussex Champs results to be published. It looks like we may have won the men’s team silver but this will depend on who is county qualified, for this you would of had to tick the box on the entry form and entered as Brighton Phoenix, but seeing as we have recently changed club name there maybe some leeway on this.

Please in future can anyone running for the club enter as Brighton Phoenix, it’s the same name whether you’re in a running or multi sport race.
We had quite a few varieties on the day including Brighton Phoenix Tri and Phoenix AC

There were 2729 finishers. The men's race was won by Paul Martelletti in 30 minutes dead and the women's race by Caryl Jones in 32:31 – a new course record.

County medals are now confirmed. Brighton Phoenix were bronze medalists in the team competition (Guilmant, Miles, Atkinson). We might have done better but the placings suggest that not everyone was correctly registered.

Over 50 silver Bruce Warren
Over 60 gold Terry Avey
Over 60 silver Andrew Haig
