The Snake, The Big W. The Cliff. Anyone who's ever run this will have these names etched indelibly into their memory. This is one tough 20 miler. Three of our doughtiest distance runners were not put off and, boy, did they do well.

The Mendip Muddle is a 20km multi-terrain race. The route is tough (there is 420m of climb), but very interesting, set in some of the finest scenery in the West Country.

The last of the Summer fun events approx 1.2 miles up the scarp slope of the downs to the Jack and Jill windmills and back down again to Clayton. A good turnout and nice to see a few more ladies running.

The first running of the Snake downhill mile. A twisting measured downhill mile on grass and downland track. Time trial format with runners setting off at 30 second intervals. Run in pleasant evening sunshine with no wind.

This new series of races in Stanmer Park made a successful day out for Phoenix athletes, with a silver medal in the adult 8k trail race, gold silver and bronze for the U11 girls, gold for U13 boys, silver and bronze for U13 girls and gold and silver for U 15 boys..

Devil's Dyke Trail Challenge

Three Phoenix members ventured to Devils Dyke on Wednesday evening in the wind to take part in the Southdowns Orienteering event. All are new to this branch of running. We all opted for the longer course.
Andrew Neighbour came a very good 5th in 47:41
Elana Moore and Liz Halliday took it at a more liesurely club run sort of pace and finished in 1:09:24 and 1:09:26 respectively. -
