|
|
Our Annual club handicap race will take place this year on Thursday July 26th starting at Ditchling Beacon and runnng to Blackcap trig point and back along the top of the downs( 5 miles) . Runners are set off on a handicap basis starting with the slowest so all runners should finish at approximately the same time. First runner starts at 7pm.
If you want to join in this fun race it is free to club members and a small charge of £2 for guests. Please supply your recent road 10k or 5k time to either Liz Halliday or Sue in order for the handicaps to be calculated ( we will be checking so be honest!!) or e-mail brightonphoenix@gmail.com
Over 16s only unless you have an adult to run with you.
Trophies for the club fastest man and woman and the first back on handicap will be presented at the club awards evening.
Hopefully a social in a nearby pub will follow the race. ( suggestions??) _________________ reflect and reboot.........

How about The Bull in Ditchling again? They seemed to welcome us and had good food on offer... |

Entries are coming in at it looks like a nice mix for the handicap. The sun is also threatening to come out and play. Let us know if you are planning on joining us. Email name and recent flat 10K or 5K result to brightonphoenix@gmail.com or tell Liz Halliday or Sue Hudson.
If there is anyone that doesn't want to run but who would like to join in the fun by helping with time keeping or making sure all runners go around the trig point at Blackcap then let us know as all help is very welcome. _________________ Liz Halliday |

Unfortunately I can't make it this year either to race, cycle to black cap or come to the pub as it falls on my Mum's 70th birthday!
Have fun and I hope the sun shines for you.

We have 23 entries so far spanning the whole ability range so please don't feel shy or hesitant. First runner will be set off from just east of Ditchling Beacon at 7pm. Please get to Ditchling Beacon in good time to collect your number and warm up.
It would be helpful if you could bring your own water and some safety pins please.
Final reminder - we have a social in the Bull at Ditchling after the event. _________________ Liz Halliday |

A big thank you to Sue H for great organisation and time keeping, Colin S for such accurate handicapping (it helps to have had the Phoenix 10K only the week before), and Bruce W and Tom F for volunteering to help marshal / time keep.
It was the best weather we've had for the event and a good turn out so thanks to everyone that joined in.
Watch out for another evening event that will be in similar style and likely to involve the 'BIG W' and a pub in Kingston (Nr Lewes) probably later in August. _________________ Liz Halliday |
