The Flying V – Thursday 31 August 2017
Meet at The Half Moon PH, Plumpton to be ready to run at 6:30pm
 
The competition bit is simply a downhill mile that starts by a gate just to the north of the SDW and to the west of Streat Hill Farm and descends the north scarp on the path that crosses the top of the V plantation of trees above Streat (a village between Plumpton and Ditchling). It finishes at the gate that comes onto the B2116 at Old Middleton, Westmeston. If any of you have access to Strava the segment is shown as "Shoot the Vs and drop like a stone".

We meet at the Half Moon in Plumpton and run to the top of the Downs using Plumpton Bostal, at a social club run pace to warm up. Then I will set the runners of at one or two minute intervals (Sue Hudson has very kindly agreed to be the time keeper at the bottom to record finish times). Once we’ve all done the competition bit we will run back to our meeting point at a social pace via a flat route to the north of the Downs, via Streat, Plumpton race course, East Chiltington and Plumpton College. Total distance is about 6.25 miles with a shorter option of about 5.25 miles available.
 
The Half Moon PH in Plumpton http://www.halfmoonplumpton.com/ is on the corner of Plumpton Lane and the B2116. The car park accessed from Plumpton Lane is at rear of the pub and there is also parking available in a lay-by at the south end of Plumpton Lane. Car share is advisable. I've heard from Burgess Hill Runners that food is good at this pub and the plan would be to gather after for a drink, with food for those that want it.
